David Moleshead

David had a career of over 42 years in investment/international banking in UK, Europe, Asia and the Middle East managing teams which have been market leaders. He came to the Middle East in 2000 and during his tenure as Managing Director for HSBC investment banking , the birth of the debt capital markets in the MENA region was pioneered with the arrangement of several debut bond and sukuk issues on behalf of sovereigns , banks and other leading entities for which HSBC won numerous industry awards.

He has led teams that have arranged financings for many iconic projects, M&A and general corporate finance purposes totalling several billion dollars.

After retiring from banking, he set up Envestors MENA , the first western styled business angels network in the Middle East and has been involved in advising many SMEs and entrepreneurs for whom he has helped to raise over $150m for various businesses, including the region’s largest unicorn.

For the past two years, he has been engaged on a contractual basis as an adviser to the UK Government for the arrangement of export finance for major projects across the Middle East in various industry sectors.

He has undertaken and continues to serve as a non-executive director on various boards where he is able to add value through his varied background in large transactions for major entities/projects which complements his “hands on experience” on the challenges facing SMEs.
