Sander comes from a Danish family with a 100-year history in the plumbing and construction industry. He holds a BSc in International Business from Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and completed investment and finance courses at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

From his early teenage years, he embarked on a self-education spree in the investment world and views formal education in the realms of business and investing as having limited value. In his second year of his bachelor’s degree, he secured a buy-side position as a focused bottom-up equity analyst. Valuing practical experience over basic theoretical learning, he chose not to pursue a master's degree and instead joined a team managing global emerging markets and Asian equities funds.

In 2015, tired of the restrictions of the traditional investment industry, he left his job together with his former manager to establish what has become NOUMRETI CAPITAL, a private multi-family office with his own family as the anchor investor and a few close partners.

Taking over the management of his family’s investments at a young age, and after witnessing the significant impact of the global financial crisis, Sander has a risk-first perspective. There is no room to jeopardize what others have spent a lifetime building.

The priorities are preserving purchasing power and generating meaningful excess returns while managing drawdown risks, and he is comfortable with tracking error risk versus traditional benchmarks. Capital allocation is a never-ending "game," and to succeed, Sander believes it is paramount to understand and get the statistical base rate in one’s favor. With that in mind, Noumreti focuses on building and implementing a suite of portfolio solutions that diversify across both allocation and approach. Emphasis is placed on limiting model specificity and the risk of over-optimizing, while focusing on building solutions that are robust to changing market dynamics over time.

These solutions are purely data-driven and serve as the basis for Noumreti’s portfolio allocations, freeing up resources to potentially override them or build high-conviction discretionary investments in any asset class, region, stage, liquid or illiquid.

Sander is well-versed in many different investment areas and instruments, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative strategies, macro, bottom-up security selection, private markets etc. He sees value in combining multiple approaches in his investments and in maintaining the flexibility to invest anywhere.

Sander also has advisory relationships with other investors, where he shares his allocation and investments. He is focused on sharing deal flow and analysis with other family offices to leverage each other’s resources and expertise.

Sander also gets involved with early-stage or smaller companies, sometimes as a single investor, taking a strategic role. He believes his main value add comes from his days as a focused bottom-up equity investor, where general scepticism, understanding competitive advantages, and identifying risks are paramount. Founders are often overconfident and need someone to push back and ask tough questions to strengthen their business model, expansion plans, and execution capabilities.

Sander is a down to earth guy with an open mind, focussed on doing more walking than talking, being honest and direct and not wasting anyone’s time. He is cognisant of where he can add value and aware of his limitations. He has an open-door policy and happy to help any connection he can, so don’t be a stranger, just ask.

On a personal level, Sander enjoys spending time with his wife and son. A former elite-level golf player, he still enjoys the occasional round of golf, as well as his passion for racing cars.
