Medality Medical Inc. is an innovative medical device technology company pursuing a unique surgical solution utilizing its patented platform technology to improve a patient’s insulin resistance, a precursor to Type 2 diabetes, through the extraction of mesenteric visceral fat. The company has successfully completed (i) a non-human primate study funded by a National Institute of Health (“NIH”) grant, and (ii) 11 patient surgical procedures as part of its FDA approved First In-Human Clinical Trial partly funded by a second NIH grant. Type 2 diabetes is a relentless, progressive disease that can cause serious vascular and end-organ complications: heart attack, stroke, blindness, kidney failure, infections, amputations and death, among others. Over 300 million people worldwide are afflicted with this dreaded disease with no effective long-term solution to arrest the disease progression in afflicted patients.
